The original NVIDIA Shield Tablet is being updated to the latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update and brings key system enhancements, bug fixes, and supports new Vulkan API. This is followed by the NVIDIA Shield K1 that received the Marshmallow update version 4.1. It is an incremental OTA update that will take your device’s Android OS to v6.0.1 from the 6.0 that the device currently runs. The new firmware updated Emojis to v9.0+, Repositioned Navigation Buttons in Landscape mode, Double Tap Power Button to launch SHIELD Camera app, Do Not Disturb Until Next Alarm and some security patches from the AOSP source. The OTA is rolling out in waves across the globe for the WiFi variant. However, for the LTE, there is still no news. How to Install NVIDIA Shield Tablet Marshmallow Update 4.1 For WiFi and LTE With Stock Recovery and ADB sideload
To use this method, you need official OTA updates and not the TWRP flashable ones. This is an official method to manually flash the OTA updates on most of the Android devices. You can use the Stock recovery method or choose the ADB sideload method. If you happen to choose the ADB method, then you will need to connect your device to PC and setup ADB and Fastboot environment. Later flash the OTA using the ADB command: adb sideload .zip.
