A new incremental OTA update has been rolling out for the Nexus series. including the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6/6P, the Nexus 9/9 LTE, Pixel C, and the recently added Nexus Player (codename: fugu) and the Android One device (codename: seed_l8150) series. The Nexus Player and Android One series have been recently added to the list and now all the Nexus devices can run the latest Android N Developer Preview 2. With the DP version 2, Google introduced many new features like the Vulkan support, Launcher shortcuts, Emoji Unicode 9 support, some API changes related to multi-window support and notifications, plus several bug fixes.
How to Install Android N Developer Preview 2 NPC91K Update on Android One, Nexus 6, 6P, 5X, 9, 9G, Player (NPC910)
So in order to get your Nexus or Android One device to the latest Android N Developer Preview version 2 update NPC91K, there are a bunch of ways to do that. You can either sign up for the Android N OTA program that will enable you to directly receive the update over the air. All you need to do is go to this tutorial and just follow the instructions in Google’s OTA program.
Secondly, you can use factory image flash. So regardless what Android version your device runs on, you can flash the latest factory images straight from the Google’s download repository(in the download section below) and then follow the instructions listed in this tutorial. This will allow you to clean flash the Android N DP 2 even if you have rooted the device, or have set up a custom recovery, etc. However, this will wipe all your data, apps, etc. Hence, backup.
On a final note, if your device already runs on Android N Developer Preview, you can push the OTA update using adb sideload or the stock recovery. However, for this, you will need the OTA file. You can check it out from this page.
