A new Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware update comes to Verizon HTC One M8. Following many other variants of the One M8, M9, and A9, it’s the turn of Verizon to shine. Although the full RUU for the update is not yet available, an XDA member has successfully extracted the OTA, Nandroid backup, Custom flashable zip file and much more. That way, you can upgrade your Verizon HTC One M8 to Marshmallow despite bein rooted or not.
According to Verizon, the update brings all the Marshmallow goodies along with stability and security patches from February. There are several types of files available for the One M8. OTA zip files come in 2 parts and needs S-Off on your One M8 to flash. the custom Firmware zip Marshmallow and TWRP v3.0.0 intact. All you need to do is rename the file and flash via hboot or fastboot. Stock recovery image has also been included. Stock unrooted nandroid backup and much more.

Custom firmware zip
This file includes all the Marshmallow firmware updates and TWRP 3.0.0.1 as well. To install it, rename the file to 0P6BIMG.zip and flash via hboot or fastboot flash this zip. Issue the following commands in command prompt or terminal. Reboot to fastboot mode using this comand:

Stock unrooted nandroid backup
This is a TWRP Nandroid backup. To install it, unzip the file, copy it to the location TWRP/backups/serialnumberofphone/ in your internal storage and then install the custom firmware zip file.

RUU only needs Custom S-Off
This includes TWRP recovery and a bit debloated like the removal of amazon apps, HTC speak, and OTA updater. This will wipe internal storage. So be careful. This can be flashed by either renaming zip to 0P6BIMG.zip and flashing from ext sd via hboot or flash via Fastboot manually as listed above.
